Oprichter Anton Burger stelde op 21-jarige leeftijd een 10-mans formatie samen om wat eigen composities uit te proberen. Door de jaren heen groeide dit orkest naar een volwassen bigband. We zijn inmiddels 26 jaar verder, maar de opdracht van de band is nog immer: SWINGEN - ALL THE WAY! Uitgangspunt voor Anton Burger, die verantwoordelijk is voor zowel de composities als de arrangementen, is een mix van de energie van de band van Buddy Rich, maar met de losse benadering van bijvoorbeeld Woody Herman of de Terry Gibbs Dreamband. Door de eigen, unieke sound echter is de Big Burger Special geen kopie van deze bands, maar een nieuw geluid in een vertrouwd bigband jasje. De 17 leden van de Big Burger Special werken allen als professionele musici in binnen- en buitenland. De jarenlange samenwerking heeft in 2003 geresulteerd in de eerste cd, "First Bite". Wat de Big Burger Special u ook voorschotelt - eigen werk, standards of arrangementen van songs van hedendaagse popidolen - het blijft lekkere, swingende haute-cuisine, altijd overgoten met die typische, verrassende Burger-saus. At the age of 21, band leader Anton Burger put together a 10-piece band to try out a few of his own compositions. Through the years this orchestra turned into a full and mature bigband. Now, 26 years later, the band's motto is still to SWING - ALL THE WAY! Starting-point for Anton Burger, who is responsible for both compositions as well as the arrangements, is a mixture of the energy of the Buddy Rich band, but with the free approach of for example Woody Herman or the Terry Gibbs Dreamband. Through its own unique sound however, the Big Burger Special is not a copy of these bands, but a new sound in a familiar bigband setup. All 17 members of the Big Burger Special are professional musicians working all over Europe. In 2003, the many years of playing together has resulted in the first album, "First Bite".
